To celebrate pride, we will be featuring works from a black lgbtq+ author for the month of June. Tonight, we will be reading A Story of Old Rome written by James Baldwin.
A Story of Old Rome is part of a collection of short stories entitled, “Fifty Famous People”. It is a collection of stories about real people who have “left enduring footprints on the sands of time” and each story includes an ethical lesson. After being forced from Rome for being selfish and unjust, Coriolanus is exiled to a neighboring city. There he joins an enemy of Rome and plans to destroy the city he used to call home.
