Trump recently announced plans to lessen the independence of the Smithsonian museums, singling out the National African American Museum of History and Culture, also known as the Blacksonian. Trump reportedly wants to remove the entire slavery section from the museum and says that it operates ‘under the influence of a division, race-centered ideology.

Dr. Coleman-Robinson is the president and CEO of the Association of African American Museums which supports cultural organizations, historical societies, and museums that collect, preserve, and exhibit objects valuable to art, history, and science involving African American communities.
