To highlight the accomplishments of women and celebrate Women's History Month, we will be featuring work from female authors for the month of March. Tonight, we will be reading "Loving The Sun" written by Myeisha Speight.
After Akilah Williams, the smartest girl in school, helped him through a panic attack their freshmen year, Joshua Washington fell in love with her almost immediately though he didn’t realize it at the time. Soon, his feelings for her became apparent, but he dared not get close to her. She was the sun of his universe and he was content in loving her from afar. But no one can feel love that’s too far to reach and Joshua learns that even though loving the sun meant he would get burned, a girl like Akilah might just make it worth it.
