There are more than 3 million power outages in Florida after Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday near Siesta Key.
Hurricane Milton caused some of the worst damage long before it made landfall as the storm is blamed for at least 20 tornadoes across Florida. One of them caused heavy damage and some deaths in Fort Pierce on the Atlantic Coast, more than 100 miles from the hurricane zone.
Lee County, home to Fort Myers and Cape Coral, is facing widespread power outages and serious flooding after Hurricane Milton’s storm surge. Fort Myers was also hit by a suspected tornado before the storm made landfall, causing severe damage. Mayor Kevin Anderson shares the latest on the recovery efforts.
