Everyday Use is a short story from the collection titled In Love and Trouble. It was published in the April 1973 edition of Harper’s Magazine and has since become widely studied. The story is told by the character “Mama” who is living with one of her two daughters in the South. Throughout the story, Mama makes comparisons between herself, her daughter Maggie, and her other daughter Dee.
