Ms Rose showed love by doing things. I watched that. I learned it. I became it.

My grandmother didn’t talk about love in the abstract. She showed it — food on the table, shoes on your feet, a roof that didn’t move. Ms Rose’s love was a verb, not a noun. And she was the most powerful person I have ever known.

So I became her. The utility. The constant showing up. The need to be useful to earn my place.

But somewhere in this episode I ask a question I can’t stop sitting with — is there a difference between showing love through doing, and only feeling worthy when you’re doing something?

Same behaviour. Very different root.
