Black In Sports welcomes in Baltimore Ravens Staff Writer, Clifton Brown. The Philadelphia, PA native discussed his start in sport writing beginning in Florida and everything leading up to hosting his podcast “Black in the NFL” on the Ravens platform.

Clifton began his career in high school, he was an avid writer and had a deep passion for sports. The discussion continued with the Philly native giving his thoughts on Ben Simmons and his recent struggles in the NBA Playoffs.

Clifton continued on his journey to Temple University, where his mother was the first Black woman to graduate from the Temple School of Pharmacy. His story continued with Clifton’s time at the New York Times. Clifton shared his stories of the ‘Bad Boy’ Pistons, Madison Square Garden, the 90’s Knicks and the rivalry with Michael Jordan. He also touched on the infamous OJ Simpson Bronco chase during the 1994 NBA Finals.

The journey for Clifton wasn’t always easy. Clifton talked about his days being the only black in the press room. He told a story about covering the Miami Dolphins at the Orange Bowl being the only black reporter and the responsibility he felt. Also how important his relationship was with other black writers like Fox Sports Reporter Rob Parker and ESPN Stephen A, Smith.

Now with the Baltimore Ravens, Clifton started his podcast ‘Black in the NFL’. This podcast has featured guests such as Lamar Jackson, Tony Dungy, Jason Wright and others. Lastly, Clifton’s commitment to Alzheimer’s. He talked about the tragedy of losing both of his parents to the disease. Don’t want to miss this one.
