In this inspiring clip of Market Mondays, we have the honor of hosting Blacc Sam, brother of the legendary Nipsey Hussle, alongside our hosts Troy Millings, Rashad Bilal, and Ian Dunlap. Rashad kicks off the conversation by reminiscing about the solid relationship and brotherhood they've built over the past two years. A trip down memory lane brings up fond memories of sharing meals at Ethiopian restaurants and learning old-school principles that are deeply ingrained in Nipsey's family and team.

In a special announcement, Rashad reveals the exciting news about Marathon Clothing's participation in this year's Invest Fest. But the most impactful highlight is the introduction of the $100,000 Nipsey Hussle Business Grant Pitch Competition. Designed to uplift and support budding entrepreneurs, this grant embodies Nipsey's vision of empowering the next generation. With the support of Microsoft and the Marathon team, the pitch competition promises to be a life-changing opportunity for a deserving entrepreneur.

Rashad outlines the steps for participation: Invest Fest ticket holders are required to create an Instagram video explaining their business and how the $100,000 grant would help them. The video must be tagged with Invest Festival, Marathon Clothing, and Earn Your Leisure. A form on the Invest Fest website must also be completed. From the pool of participants, 100 will be preselected via social media, with an additional 50 walk-ins accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Blacc Sam reflects on Nipsey's legacy and how this grant represents his unwavering support for young entrepreneurs. He recalls stories of Nipsey’s dedication to helping others, emphasizing the "marathon mentality" of perseverance and dedication.

Troy and Ian join the conversation, discussing the qualities they look for in an entrepreneur: consistency, hard work, and resilience. They highlight old-school principles such as reinvestment, continuous learning, and accountability as keys to success.

The conversation also touches on the evolution of Marathon stores and the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, shedding light on upcoming projects and grand openings that honor Nipsey's vision and legacy. The foundation’s goal is to continue offering opportunities and support to the community, particularly in Crenshaw and Slauson, where it all started.

This episode not only offers valuable insights on the grant competition but serves as a testament to Nipsey Hussle's enduring influence. It’s a call to action for all aspiring entrepreneurs to seize this opportunity and carry forward a legacy of excellence.
