Deepa Akula (Ah-kuh-lah) is a full-time real estate investor and multifamily syndicator based in Seattle, WA. I am a GP on over 1000 units and an LP for about 1350 units in TX, AZ, and FL. She is a licensed Professional Civil/Structural Engineer and was a Principal Engineer leading teams of engineers and retired after serving as Head of Engineering for a utility pole manufacturer. She holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. We talked to Deepa about her investing journey, what to look for in a market, how she transitioned to being a GP from an LP, and the importance of education.
