To highlight the accomplishments of women and celebrate Women's History Month, we will be featuring work from female authors for the month of March. Tonight, we will be reading "Sweat" written by Zora Neale Hurston.

Sweat is a short story set in Central Florida. The story depicts the tumultuous marriage between Delia, a washer women for the “white folks”, and her unemployed husband Sykes. Sykes disapproves of Delia’s occupation although he makes no contributions to the household. One day, he hatches an escape plan for his marriage that goes tragically wrong. Now, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and sleep in melanated peace.
