As of February 12, 2025, a measles outbreak has been reported in Gaines County, West Texas, with 24 cases identified in the past two weeks. Nine of the patients have been hospitalized. All cases involve unvaccinated residents, and the majority are school-aged children.

Gaines County has one of the highest rates of vaccine exemptions in Texas, with nearly 14% of children exempted from vaccinations. This high exemption rate has contributed to the spread of the disease.
