VIBE AND VEGAS SHOW: WICKIDA

Roland “Wickida” Young was born in Westmoreland on the south side of Jamaica in the West Indies. When he was twelve years old, his family migrated to Canada. He grew up listening to Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and The Whalers and Jacob Miller. He shares what is what like growing up listening to music and his career in music from being under contract with Cooke Management for one year to now starting his own label, Blaqscope Records. He has produced acts such as Al Beeno, Jr., Flex, Pachino and Rob di the brinx. “Wickida” comments on why he is happy being an independent artist for the last six years and why he wants to stay an as independent artist. He also gives us his take on what needs to be done to improve the situation for young Black men in Toronto and the current Canadian Reggae Music scene. He is completing his first cd which scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011.
