Jason “Blockz” Allard knows the meaning of dusting off and trying again. ; Growing up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, “Blockz” was interested in two things as a child – basketball and music. Blockz struggled in school and often felt bored and uninterested in what he was doing. Blockz only began to excel once he was given the opportunity to perform at his annual school talent shows, and started to fall in love with what music had to offer him. He began to record music at his friend’s house – the only place he had access to turntables and a mic – and shortly afterward formed a group by the name of Black Soldiers in 2000. The rest is musical history. “Blockz” shares about his growing up years, his relationship with his parents, how his musical journey started and where it is taking him and his thoughts about the challenges that young Black men are facing. Blockz released his first hit single “YEAH” the summer of 2010 which will be followed by an EP in the near future. Blockz is paving a new path for the international hip hop and r and b scene with his powerful lyrics and rhyming style.
