The most popular method of therapy is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) also referred to as 'talk therapy' which can be beneficial to one's healing process. But what happens when it does not work? Davia Roberts of the AFFIRM Podcast joins Kea to discuss different methods of therapy that can assist with healing from trauma, becoming self-aware and learning new coping skills.
Meet Davia!
When she's not in downward facing dog, Davia's utilizing her time as a licensed therapist, community organizer, podcast host, and wellness blogger.
After several years as an advocate for children and youth, Davia pursued a counseling degree at The University of Texas at Austin, where she later worked as a career coach upon graduation. With a passion for serving women, Davia used her evenings to volunteer at a counseling center.
Within a few months, Davia founded Redefine Enough in 2015 by developing content to support women who were in need of mental health resources but faced barriers to affordable psychotherapy and wellness resources. Her endeavors to reduce mental health stigma have only multiplied with the creation of the SHE IS wellness retreat and biweekly podcast, AFFIRM. Davia's efforts earned her the title "Babe of the Year" by BossBabesATX. The self proclaimed, "hippie dippie therapist," is determined to make a global impact through her work as a trauma counselor, mental health advocate, and wellness educator.
