Women’s History Month
On this episode Dj Candy Raine and Hali are out so the ladies of Queendom , Audia and Ronnie join Cidnee and Nika . Queendom was featured on our SXSW stage so the ladies talk about their experience in Austin. Our stage feature black women from all over the country and Canada with headliners YungBabyTate and BBYMUTHA. The sxsw activation kicks off our 2019 tour . Nika highlights the cities will be stopping this year.
Since it is women’s history month , the group takes a time out to talk in detailed about female artist doing their thing right now . Our CareFreeBlackGirl Of the week goes out Meghan the stallion who killed it at the Fader fort this year in Austin . Meghan has been making headlines for her freestyles and twerking while maintaining a great gpa in college. The budding Star recently announced The passing of her mother rapper Hollywood. The group sends their love and prayers to the rapper during this tough time.
While on the topic of the women in music the ladies highlight Scottibeam, Karen Civil , Ashley Outrageous and other women who put on for the culture , race aside . Many people were up in arms about Cardi B trademarking her popular phrase “okurrr” which sparked the conversation of ownership. When do we take control of the things we promote and do we have right to do so if the item or phrase in question is influenced by something already popular.
On a more serious note the group talk elections. Cidnee brings up the point that most of the candidates are speaking about reparations for a black people. What does this mean for us as a whole ? Audia , who Is a first generation American speaks about the way reparations would help black Americans as a whole in terms of our economy and homelessness .
Our Get Free segment centered around letting go in preparation for the new season. The group collectively felt that this year big things are on the way so it’s more about spiritual freedom than physical.
