In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, lets revisit a previous episode from Army Veteran, Dr. Kellie Goss.
As a woman veteran, going against the grain comes naturally for Dr. Kellie. After watching her mother and sister battle breast cancer, she learned that she had BRCA1 gene mutation, which greatly increases her lifetime breast cancer risk. It was then that Dr. Kellie made the brave decision to have a preventative mastectomy. Dr. Kellie has since made it her mission to use social media to share her BRCA1 journey in the hopes that women of color will see themselves represented when making informed decisions about breast health, early detection and genetic counseling.
