We have a special episode for you today, Fruities! Recently, Wendy and Beth were able to interview the mother of a young man who was murdered in 2020.
On December 23, 2020, Tyler Kobe Nichols was murdered in broad daylight when walking home after getting a haircut in Brooklyn, NY. Tyler’s senseless murder devastated his surviving family, friends and community. Since Tyler’s death, in collaboration with photographer Spencer Ostrander and and author Paul Austor, Tyler’s family created a book called Long Live King Kobe: Following the Murder of Tyler Nichols, which documents one family’s grief in order to give shape to the human faces devastated by violence. Tyler’s mother, Sherma, also became the founder and director of Long Live King Kobe, a New York State nonprofit organization. The goals of LLKK are to support the families and friends of victims of violence and to fund outreach programs for troubled youth.
Beth and Wendy talk to Tyler’s mother, Sherma Chambers, along with his cousin Kareem Eusebe, and photographer Spencer Ostrander. What follows is our interview with these beautiful people.
Please check out their book, Long Live King Kobe: Following the Murder of Tyler Nichols, and their website: https://www.longlivekingkobe.org/
