The Cool Soror Podcast welcomes Tasia Grant. A Cool Soror of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., this Washington D.C. native has a passion for the art of acting. Her love for acting started at age 7 with the Children’s Urban-Arts Ensemble (CUE) community theatre group in Washington, DC and continued through college, but she eventually began a corporate career. About 12 years ago, she returned to her passion. With theatre being her foundation and first love, she returned to the stage in The Renaissance Project Theatre productions of A Raisin in the Sun, in the role of “Ruth Younger” and in Steel Magnolias, as “M’Lynn”, and as “Annie Sullivan” in The Miracle Worker, to name a few.
She eventually transitioned into film and television earning roles in films like Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” and “Single Moms Club”, a supporting role in TVOne’s “Skinned”, directed by LisaRaye McCoy and and a leading role in TVOne original film “Definitely Divorcing, alongside Columbus Short, Robin Givens, Golden Brooks, and other amazing actors. Some of her TV work includes House of Cards, The Vampire Diaries, TheQuad, Mann & Wife, Finding Carter, and she is currently in her third season of Saints and Sinners, in the recurring role of Samantha Pearson. Look for her in the upcoming films ” The Bargain” and “Shades of Attraction ” as well the web series “Thick Skin” as abusive mother, “Naomi”.
She taught acting classes to young children at Terri Vaughn’s “The Green Room” and to beginner/intermediate adults at The Alchemy of Acting, as well as previously conducting workshops entitled “Getting Your Kids in the Biz”, helping parents and children navigate through the process of getting started in the acting business. She attributes her success in this journey to God’s favor, an incomparable support system, hard work, training, focus and to enjoying and appreciating every ounce of this experience as an actor… the good, the bad and the ugly. But acting has always given her an “Intrinsic Reward.”
