Cotton Fields to Cover Stories: How Black Women Beat The Odds In Two Generations podcast
“Taking care of yourself is taking care of your child. It goes hand in hand. It’s a domino effect.” -Leonis
In this episode I am joined by Leonis, a social worker and conscious parenting advocate, to discuss the importance of self-care and conscious parenting. Leonis shares her personal journey as a young mom raising a child with autism and how she navigated the challenges of parenting while prioritizing her own well-being. They delve into the concept of conscious parenting and how it involves self-reflection, setting boundaries, and creating systems to support both parent and child. Leonis also shares practical tips for implementing morning routines and finding time for self-care amidst the demands of parenting.
In this episode, you can expect to hear: -Challenges of raising a child with autism -What is conscious parenting? -Parenting styles and avoiding fear-based discipline -The benefits of implementing routines and systems -Overcoming mom guilt and prioritizing self-care
About my guest: Leonis Rousseve is a wife and mother of 3 living in New Orleans, LA. As a licensed clinical social worker, I have over a decade of experience working with children and families to improve their relationships and home dynamics. Marrying my 16 years of conscious parenting with my clinical background in children’s mental health, I inspire millennial moms and wives to implement mindset shifts and routines to make their lives easier. In my spare time, I love going to a fun brunch or festival, reading a good book, and watching reality TV shows from the early 2000s.
