It’s still February, which means it’s still Black History Month! We’re back with a new episode and new guests, as promised. Joined by Shannon Clash, a friend of the show and nationally recognized storyteller, this week’s discussion focuses on the time of year when we celebrate and honor all of the contributions African Americans have made to this country. Yet, with every BHM that rolls around we feel as though we’re still fighting to be recognized. Throughout the episode we share our own experiences with learning Black history, intersectionality and recent efforts to restrict how schools teach about Black history, race and racism. Interestingly, our conversation leads back to the fallacy of White ‘discomfort’. We all agree that while Black history is integral to our national narrative, Black people should not be tokenized to educate non-Black Americans.
Give our amazing guest, Shannon a follow on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with more of her visionary storytelling. If you haven’t already, make sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Facebook @AnnoyedNotOffended
