Police have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion
of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl who was found dead this week. According to a news release
from the Tupelo Police Department, on Tuesday, May 23, at
approximately 3:30 a.m., officers performed a welfare check in the 100 block of
Stone Street, where they found a juvenile female deceased. The Lee County
Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased girl as 16-year-old Denasia
McGregory from Houston, Mississippi, WTVA-TV reports.
Officials did not disclose her cause of death. Police reportedly identified
Labrandon Tumblin as a person of interest, and he was located at the scene and
taken into custody at around 7 a.m. the same day. Tumblin was booked into the Lee County Detention
Center on a charge of felony kidnapping. Family members of the
victim told WTVA that McGregory and Tumblin were dating. The investigation is
ongoing. Source: True Crime Daily
