Guiding Scriptures: 1 Samuel 22:3-4 ‘And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come [out of Judah] and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.” Then he left them with the king of Moab; and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

Death, deceit, and destruction- those are the thoughts that invaded me as I read 1 Samuel 22. God is protecting King David and providing for his household. Why were priests killed in the process? Who is Doeg the Edomite, and what did he gain from performing such a gruesome order from Saul?
We may not have the exact answer but, we can dissect the behavior because it is prevailing today. Fear, greed, and pride cause rebellion against our Almighty God. Before we insert ourselves into this narrative, we would be wise to think about the root.
