In this installment of the Detroit Worldwide Podcast, Marquis connects with licensed mental health therapist and wellness advocate Jeff Williams about his career in social work as well as his experience as a student-athlete at Wayne State University.
Jeff also discusses his passion for sports and mental health support and how he has helped athletes to bring the stigma about therapy.
About Jeff:
Jeffrey Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is currently the Assistant Director of Mental Health & Wellness for the University of Tennessee Athletic Department.
Williams received a Master's of Social Work Degree specializing in Cognitive Behavior Therapy from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Williams also has experience working in schools, private practice and community mental health settings.
As a former Collegiate Football player at Wayne State University and a current National Olympic Weightlifter that finished 7th in the country at the USA National Weightlifting Championship in July 2021, being able integrate sports and mental health is a dream for him.
Williams is an advocate for mental health and has a passion for helping individuals through psychotherapy to transform their minds and lives.
