Are All White People Racist? InvestFest Backlash and What it Means To Not Have A High Racial IQ

This week on So Shameless, celebrity chef @Chef.Cream joins us on the couch for a conversation that goes from entrepreneurship and community to race, culture, and some of the biggest debates happening in Black America.
 
We kick things off talking about Traum’s successful block party, the work that went into curating the event, and Tahoe’s new icee cart—which leads to a conversation about his hustler mentality and why he’s always looking for the next opportunity.
 
Then we address the backlash from last week’s episode before getting into a much bigger question: Are all white people racist? And what do we make of white influencers who build platforms around being “pro-Black”? Are they genuine allies, profiting from Black culture, or can both things be true?
We also discuss Tuskegee University’s new dress code, including the controversy surrounding restrictions on bonnets and durags, and the debate over respectability, professionalism, and cultural expression.
 
Then we get into the criticism surrounding Earn Your Leisure and Invest Fest, including Rashad Bilal’s comments about creating a festival specifically for Black people and why the event has become such a polarizing topic online.
 
Finally, we discuss disturbing reports involving Black people being found hanging from trees in the South and the fear, anger, and questions those cases have raised—including what Black communities should demand from authorities when circumstances surrounding a death are unclear.
