podcast September 29, 2023

Background

The House votes on four spending bills tonight, with the last one expected to fail by a large margin in another example of the dysfunction pushing the country closer to a government shutdown Saturday at midnight, after which: 4 million federal employees, more than 1 million active duty troops, and tens of thousands of air traffic controllers could be forced to work without pay. That, as the GOP holds an inquiry into the impeachment of Joe Biden, with one of the witnesses called directly undercutting the narrative by admitting there is no evidence the President has committed any impeachable offenses. Also tonight, Biden warns of threats to democracy in an Arizona speech, and Trump passes on moving his Georgia election subversion trial to a federal court.
