A Love Letter to Black Women

Hey Y’all Hey!

Welcome back to SAY IT TO ME NICE! After a 3 year hiatus,. we are returning with a renewed purpose and passion. This episode is deeply personal-a heartfelt love letter to Black women everywhere.

In this episode/semi-rant, we explore:

• THE POWER OF UNITY AMONG BLACK WOMEN: Why solidarity and healing through solidarity is critical in today’s challenging political and social climate.
• CREATING SPACES OF PROTECTION AND HEALING: The importance of finding and fostering spaces specifically designed for Black women’s safety, growth, and well-being.
• THE NEW DIRECTION of SAY IT TO ME NICE: Our commitment to being a space for healing through conversations on spirituality, health, and wellness-while continuing our focus on sex education and pleasure.

VADEISHA R. WILLIAMS, LCSW Vadeisha Williams is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in the states of Louisiana and Texas, specializing in working with Black women and girls by supporting them through pivotal life transitions. Her therapeutic style revolves around establishing a safe, compassionate, culturally-sensitive, and fun space tailored for one-on-one therapy sessions.

THERAPY FOR BLACK GIRLS: A directory of culturally competent therapist dedicated to the healing of Black women, a vibrant online community.

BLACK FEMAL THERAPISTS: A platform connecting Black women with therapists who understand our unique experiences.

THE LOVELAND FOUNDATION: Provides financial assistance to Black women seeking therapy.

INCLUSIVE THERAPISTS: Offers a safe space to find therapists specializing in serving marginalized communities, including Black women.

THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE: by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk explores how trauma is stored in the body and impacts mental, emotional, and physical health. It emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with the body through practices like self awareness, movement, and self awareness to promote healing. For Black women, this work is particularly powerful in addressing the unique layers of generational, racial, and personal trauma they may carry.
