S2 E9: Kevin Ross podcast
What does it mean to shatter the silence that has trapped generations? Today, we confront the hidden epidemic of child sexual abuse within the family and the generational trauma it leaves in its wake. Too many children are forced to carry secrets, confusion, and shame—believing they are the problem, when the truth is, the shame never belonged to them.
Lisa welcomes Tiffany Smith, motivational speaker, author, wellness coach, DPS Officer with Nevada State Police: Division of Parole & Probation and survivor of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, and narcissistic abuse. At just 13 years old, Tiffany found the courage to stand up to her abuser—her own father—and declare that the cycle would end with her. She became the protector for her younger sisters, carrying a burden no child should bear, and navigated a home where silence and survival were the only options.
Together, Lisa and Tiffany explore the lifelong impact of trauma, the complexity of family loyalty, and the courage it takes to finally speak the truth after decades of silence. Tiffany shares how she broke free from the legacy of abuse, faced the pain of disclosure as an adult, and began the journey of healing—not just for herself, but for future generations. Her story is one of fierce resilience, transformation, and the power of becoming the hero she needed as a child.
This episode is a call to break the silence, end the stigma, and support survivors with empathy and understanding. Lisa and Tiffany remind us that healing is not linear, but every act of truth-telling is a step toward reclaiming power, rewriting the narrative, and breaking generational cycles for good.
Just a heads up: This episode contains discussions of coercion, child sexual assault by a parent, intimate partner violence, and addiction recovery. Some may find it upsetting. We encourage you to take care of yourself.
