Mia and Porsha’s Arrested Development: What REALLY happened! podcast
What does sex look like, feel like and how is it expressed in the black communities when we have mental, historical and cultural barriers keeping us from having honest and authentic conversations about our sexuality? Join me, your host, Taylor Sparks and Dr. Tracie Q. Gilbert as we have a deep, fun and heart to heart discussion about sexual stereotypes, the church and all other challenges we have with the ‘skirt down, legs closed’ philosophy surrounding our sexuality.
Tracie Gilbert Bio:
Tracie Q. Gilbert, PhD (she/her/Thembi) is an educator, writer, researcher and consultant who uses conversation to help achieve sexual wellness and healing for Black people, and racial justice in sex ed spaces. Using lectures, interactive workshops and conversation series, Dr. Gilbert works to help Black communities unpack the mental, historical, and cultural barriers that keep them from having honest, productive conversations about sex and sexuality.
Dr. Gilbert has nearly 25 years experience teaching urban youth, young adults, and their advocates. She received her Masters of Science in Education at the University of Pennsylvania, and her doctorate from the Center for Human Sexuality Studies at Widener University. She has taught for several different organizations including Widener, Christiana Healthcare Systems, Evoluer House, the Innovative Learning Institute, and the Center for Sex Education. At present, she conducts direct services through her independent agency, Thembi Anaiya, LLC.
