Best of NFL News Part 2: Browns DODGE Shedeur, Jets STRUGGLE, Richardson DISSED?! podcast
There is suffering this morning across the heartland of America. Countless families are struggling to recover from one of the most devastating tornado outbreaks in U.S. history. One of those tornadoes ripped through an estimated 227 miles across several states. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced at least 64 people were killed in the state, which he said suffered “the worst tornado event” in its history. A small Mayfield, Kentucky community of 10,000 people may be destroyed. The mayor describes the debris as “matchsticks.” Many people have nothing left and will have to rebuild everything. More than 100 workers at the Mayfield Consumer Products Factory were making candles when a tornado tore through the building. The company says at least 8 workers died. More than 200 miles northwest of Mayfield, recovery efforts continue at another workplace torn apart by the storm, an Amazon facility in Edwardsville, Illinois, where at least 6 people were killed and another was airlifted to a hospital; at least 45 people survived the collapse of the warehouse. Meteorologist Evelyn Taft of our Los Angeles stations KCBS and KCAL puts this record-setting event into context.
