A.D. is an urban music triple threat. He is a writer, producer and rapper. A.D. Was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to parents of West Indian descent. He learned to play the piano at six years old. During his public and high school years, A.D. was heavily involved in sports which taught him discipline, loyalty and focus. At a young age while hanging out with brother and his brother’s friends, A.D. acquired a love for break dancing. The first record that he purchased and break danced to was Run DMC’s “Peter Piper” with “My Adidas” on the flip side. He began writing rhymes at 12 years old and released his first beat, “G-Spot”, in 2005 followed it up with “Da Show’s Over”. Music labels were eager to sign A.D. to a record deal but it was not the right time for A.D. ; With the arrival of his daughter, A.D. decided to put his career on hold with becoming to Black father. Because of the opportunity to provide a better a better life for his daughter, A.D. returned back to the urban music scene with the release of “Icy” in 2008. He followed it up with “Secret” in 2009. He most recent single is “What I Do”. We discuss his life, his musical career, the relationship that he had with his father, how the urban music scene has changed over the years and why he started his own independent label, Blaq Plague Records. A.D. Is planing the release of a solo album in the March 2011 called “Free Agent”.
