In a historic move, UAW workers at the 3 largest US auto companies have gone on strike. Union workers are seeking better wages, benefits, and conditions, which they say are modest proposals given the companies’ high profits and executive pay— approximately 300 times the average worker. Ford Motors has laid off 600 workers, and General Motors is closing a factory in Kansas at which 2000 people work.
