podcast December 31, 1969

In this episode, we're talking about Black Financial Trauma and how it impacts our identity.

Have you ever been in a position where you felt like you had to purchase things to look a specific way in order to be "SEEN" as successful? Or maybe you've been the individual to say "I don't believe they're making money", yeah, us too. That's what we're talking about. Why is that? What is that? And what are the long term effects if we don't start having conversations around it?

We'll also be delving into the idea of conscientious identity crisis, which is when we attach our identity to the things we buy in order to feel superior or equal. And let's be real, we've all been there at some point. But we'll be discussing how this way of thinking can be detrimental to our long-term financial health and well-being.

But of course with all of this, we address how we can address and empower ourselves financially. One thing we'll be exploring is the instinct to change our lifestyle and buy material things when we make money. And while this may be a common tendency, it's important to unpack the trauma that comes with believing that looking like money is the only way to win. Success can also be found in intangibles, and we'll be discussing that too.

So, join us for this important conversation about Black Financial Trauma and how we can overcome its impact on our identity.
