Five Hinderances to Hearing From God

God wants to talk to us; it is His will that we hear from Him. However, sometimes we may be so focused on our own problems that we can’t hear what He’s saying. There is never a problem with God speaking; the issue is always with something we may be doing to block His voice. Barriers to hearing from Him include unbelief, having undeveloped spirits, and being burdened with an evil spirit that makes us spiritually deaf. Having a hardened conscience and neglecting to spend time with the Holy Spirit will also hinder our ability to hear from God. We keep our spiritual ears open by actively living in His Word so it can tune our spirits to Him. Allowing the Word to keep us clean from the world’s influence enables us to detect the difference between truth and lies, thereby consistently defeating the enemy.
