Studios greenlit sequels to films all the time especially when the first film is a HUGE success. In practicality, the first Joker movie should never have gotten a sequel especially with how standalone the film was and its ending. But typical of Hollywood, money talks so a sequel was greenlit. This film doesn’t do a good job overall of justifying itself for existing despite the great acting, great cinematography, and good music. The story is what sinks this film on top of the juxtoposition of trying to be a musical and drama.
