Another first!! Steve Byfield is the only Black head winemaker with his own label in Canada. Steve is the head winemaker of the award winning Nayarai Cellars in Jordan, Ontario (Niagara region of Ontario). During our interview, Steve shares his story on how he got into the vine business including on how Nyarai Cellars started in 2008 including the business model and operations, where the name “Nyarai” came from, the details of the process of wine making from start to finish, overcoming the negative perception that some people have of Ontario wines, the process of getting his product on shelf.
