From its origins to its evolution over the decades, we explore why this ritual holds such significance in American culture. We’ll discuss the honor and controversy that have surrounded these visits, as well as funny moments.

Join us as we examine notable instances where athletes and teams have accepted or declined invitations based on their stance towards the current sitting president. Noteworthy examples include:

Las Vegas Aces (WNBA) – Mulitple visits after their back to back WNBA Championships.

New England Patriots (NFL) – Multiple visits following their Super Bowl victories, including during the presidencies of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.

Golden State Warriors (NBA) – A visit after their 2015 NBA Championship win during President Barack Obama’s tenure, but a decline during Donald Trump’s presidency after their 2017 and 2018 championships.

Clemson Tigers (NCAA Football) – A visit in January 2019 after winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. Fast Food visit. 

Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) – Multiple visits over the years, celebrating their Stanley Cup victories during the presidencies of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.
