One woman is dead and another is injured after a shooting in River North early Saturday morning. Police said all of it unfolded on the sidewalk near the House of Blues just after 1 a.m. That’s where police said two women were in a verbal altercation with an unknown male offender, who then pulled out a gun and shot both women multiple times. Some people nearby saw the shooting and described the initial chaos. One of them is a 26-year-old who was shot in the chest and taken to Northwestern hospital. She died soon after from her injuries.
The other 31-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh and was also taken to Northwestern hospital. She was last listed in good condition. Those two women, family members say, were sisters. Family has identified the woman killed as 26-year-old Tashawnna Anderson. Her sister is being treated for a gunshot wound to the thigh. Family video shows Anderson holding her young daughter, who loved ones said is just a couple of months short of turning one. This is the second weekend in a row a shooting occured in River North. In fact, a man was shot last weekend outside of a nightclub just blocks away from Saturday’s deadly shooting. In this recent shooting, no one has been arrested.
