Shaft is a very interesting franchise rooted in its blaxsploitation roots. 19 years ago, John Singleton gave us an updated version starring Sam Jackson in the role. It was an ok movie overall that had some over the top moments. So this followup sequel on first glance seems like a cash grab but it ends up being a pretty good film mainly because of writer Kenya Barris making the dialogue believable and not over the top stupidity. The entire cast does there job in the respective roles and it ends up turning a simple movie into a fun time.
3BG rating: 7.5 out of 10
