Cotton Fields to Cover Stories: How Black Women Beat The Odds In Two Generations podcast
Today, I’m kicking’ it with Tim Shaw, host on RealTalkWithTim Podcast. This episode is a it heavy. Please, if you get triggered, take a moment to breathe through it or step away. Tim and I are not professionals in the field of emotional baggage. We are simply sharing our opinions through life experiences.
During this episode we discuss: childhood, relationship, and work place emotional baggage.
Emotional baggage can stem from absent parents, heartbreak, abuse, and many other things. Tim opens up about the not having his father in his childhood.
Other points we deep into are: being vulnerable with the wrong people and not ourselves, being a safe space for others and ourselves, self-reflection, being present, and knowing that crying isn’t the only form of emotion.
Stop worrying about how speaking about your emotions make you look or what people will have to say. FREE yourself by opening up and releasing. Holding on to emotional baggage causes health issues. Be good to yourself and let it go. No, it’s not always easy, but it’s worth it in the end.
There are 5 ways to Combat Emotional Baggage:
1. Admit
2. Acknowledge
3. Accept
4. Adjust
5. Achieve
