Monifa Caines: Changing The Narrative With Beauty & Style

Monifa Caines is a first-generation American who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up, Monifa knew she always wanted to spend her life helping people and became a registered nurse. She graduated from Howard University’s College of Nursing and then honorably served in the United States Air Force for 8 1⁄2 years as a registered nurse, a personnel officer, and a wing executive officer.

Upon transitioning from the military, though she enjoyed her various roles in the private sector, Monifa felt drawn to finding another way to serve and help people. As a result in 2019,  she founded Queen of Spades Style to educate women about their different hair textures, provide unique and striking hair accessories, and place a special emphasis on assisting cancer survivors and other deserving women to help them accentuate their beauty.  Monifa realized that by becoming a business owner, it allows her to not only tap into her creativity,  but also change the narrative for what is deemed beautiful.
