About the guest

Lisa Brown was raised between Washington, D.C. and Compton, CA. She developed a deep love for film photography and darkroom printing at a young age, and by the time she was seven, she was taking pictures with her first camera. Film photography and darkroom printing were the first classes she took at the National Children’s Museum in Washington, DC. Lisa was first inspired by her grandfather, who was not only a student at Howard Law School but an exceptional street photographer in DC in the late ‘80s. Lisa still finds inspiration from his work today. Film never left her spirit, and she attended Prince George’s College where she acquired a degree in arts. After college, she dove deep into Africana Studies and was guided by many professors to further pursue her education in the field of visual arts. Currently enrolled at MICA to complete  BFA. Lisa has been recognized by the Pittsburgh Art Society, Black Is Magazine, and The National Museum of Women in the Arts.
