Coghill, M.A. is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Communications at Bowie State University. Her research consists of the study of Black women, coded language, and how it incites violence towards these women in digital spaces. She uses Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms as a digital archive and tool to decipher coded language that strips black women of their agency. She is currently working on a joint project studying Imposter Syndrome and how it impacts the lives of Black women. When she is not doing research or teaching Oral Communications at Bowie State she enjoys creating content for her mental health and wellness blog You Are A Light. Her blog focuses on honoring the lightness and darkness within you. Ka’Lyn believes that we can all illuminate when we accept our flaws. Ka’Lyn was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder 2 in 2014. She has been using traditional and holistic treatments to manage her illness.
