Forgiveness & Stereotypes in the Black Community

This week the trio reunites, as Symphony returns from flight attendant boot camp and we address some things in the black community. We take a deep dive into how black people are forgiving towards everyone else, except each other. Following the Kyrie Irving scrutiny and lack of support he initially received from other black athletes, made us question a lot about why the black community are so hard of each other.

We touch on how our expectations of each other in the black community are so high, we usually condemn others for their mistakes rather than extending grace. When other races offend us or are malicious, we easily accept an apology and move on. However, when someone black does or says something we don’t agree with, we crucify them. Let’s make it make sense!

We also touch on stereotypes and how they’re preventing us from progressing as a community and how some people choose to live up to them instead of trying to dispel them. Zina makes a great point about the crabs in a barrel mentality that there isn’t enough room at the top for everyone so rather than sharing resources and helping each other out, we do the opposite.
