Episode 96: “Star Power” (w/ Maye Star)

When it is all said and done, Boston's music scene will never be able to tell its story properly without the Black culture epicenter of the city, Roxbury. Whether it's the time Malcolm X spent in the city during his wilder days, being the birthplace of Gang Starr's Guru, or the former home of Funky Fresh Records, Roxbury has always been known for housing some larger-than-life personalities which went on to touch many lives in so many different ways. That same sentiment is what hold true for the Hip-Hop Artist/tastemaker, Maye Star! We had the opportunity for him to pull up on us at eXpozedTV Studios for a very genuine sit down!

May Star is no new-comer to this music scene as he stated he's approaching his 10th year in. If you remember when the social media platform "Vine" was at it's peak, then you might've came across some of his 6 second videos which helped him amass a large online presence. Over the years Maye Star has consistently pumped out singles which were often paired with visuals, earning him multiple 6 figure views on YouTube. Being the son of former Boston sportscaster "Coach" Willie Maye, there's no surprise that the "God of Groove" knows how to shake a room and leave a lasting impression on others. In 2020, Star dropped 2 projects, "Super Moon" which was long over due and "MAYEDAY 2020" which was almost a part 2 to his 2012 effort. Join us this week as we talk about the artist's musical journey, his gap in body's of work until recently, some of his personal life and SO MUCH MORE! This is also the first time we have all 3 hosts interviewing a guest so we shared a whole lotta laughs!
