☎️ Hey Hung Up Family, this week I want to share a story I heard on NPR Fresh Air. A story about a woman, Sharanda Jones, who was set to serve a life sentence but ended up receiving clemency from President Barack Obama. Her story gives us hope that the people who are thrown away and ignored by society have a chance to make a comeback. I also bring in stats that speak to how policing and the justice system has disproportionally impacted the Black LGBTQ+ community and the different ways we can push for equitable change. Ira Coats, Jr., the Assistant Defender at The Defenders Association of Philadelphia, joins me and weighs in with his knowledge and expertise. #HungUP
