And as it stands right now, dozens of polls show that voters currently prefer conservative candidates on the economy and on issues of crime/safety. Why?
Well, it’s not because Republicans actually have coherent plans for either issue, but they’ve done a masterful job at convincing voters that any problem that exists with the economy or crime is the fault of Democrats and Democrats alone.
It’s foolish, but if we’ve learned anything over the past few years, it’s that tens of millions of voters vote on feelings over facts. Never mind that the 10 states with the highest crime rates are almost exclusively led by Republicans. Facts don’t matter nearly as much in 2022 as they have in years past. It all comes down to what you can make people believe.
