Ep.104: Iowa’s Slaughterhouse

Dove Horror Story Alert!  First let’s learn about Iowa’s meat packing union and then learn how capitalism killed it.  Iowa’s meat packing union understood the importance of racial solidarity and workers’ rights, it not only secured strong wages for its workers but desegregated the town as well…..but then along comes big business….. A new packing plant, tough working conditions, all leads to the workers either moving away or quitting the job.  Either way, big business brings in replacement workers, many refugees from other countries.  When Covid hits, this little town becomes one of the biggest hot spots for infection disproportionately affecting the meat packing workers because……..the business did NOTHING to prepare for Covid even though they knew it could happen fifteen (15) years before Covid-19 struck the town.  Listen, learn then activate!
