podcast August 2, 2021

Background

Let's talk food! We get into all the ways that you can store food for an emergency situation. We also discuss how we prepped for the COVID lockdown, share thoughts on the taste of various prepper food products and discuss tips for making sure your entire family is well-fed during an emergency. We also answer our first Listener question!

Some things we talked about in this episode:

Our title inspiration and something you’ll hear in our house frequently around dinner time: Antwain’s “Where We Bout To Eat At?” Clip

The Mik and Jenn family crest would definitely have “Stomach Integrity” somewhere on it, and in an emergency situation, you cannot play fast and loose with food poisoning.  Here are some Food Safety Guidelines specific to disaster scenarios.

Remember, two is one and one is none, so you should have two can openers. But what if you didn’t follow our advice and don’t have a manual can opener for all that canned food you have stored? Here’s a quick video showing how to Open a Can Food Lid on Concrete.

Finally, we taste-tested some emergency food rations. Check out our Preparedness Food Taste Test.
