Composer Otto Wilhelm Nilsson talks music and more.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden on the 7th of October in 1993 and I started to write music for films in 2012 when I did the music for Halloween short about a monster haunting forest.
The first piece of film music I can recall was Basil Poledouris’ wonderful score for Free Willy. The main theme used to send shivers down my spine (and still do today) and it made me feel very strongly for the character of Willy and his human friend Jesse.
My real fascination with film music though began at the age of 7 when I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade together with my father. That was the first time I really understood that a person had sat down and wrote the fantastic music I was hearing. The distinctive themes that Williams employs in that film are just marvelous and also very effective. Since then, film music has always been and always will be close to my heart.
