For generations, the black community has identified its trauma as part of “the culture.” In this episode, Charlamagne aims to stop the normalization of trauma in the black community and start a path to healing. We unpack the different ways that black people have had to use unhealthy coping mechanisms to get through their collective PTSD. And we begin the process of learning healthier alternatives of overcoming our pain such as therapy. And by doing so Charlamagne speaks with Dr. Rheeda Walker and Resmaa Menakem to gain insight on how to manage our mental wellness. We’ll also be joined by the great Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child who has a podcast centered around mental health called Checking In With Michelle Williams. It’s time to destigmatize mental health in the black community and normalize a healthier future for generations to come.
